SGA is now recruiting a production and packaging assistant to join a local brewery. This is an entry-level role.

As a Production Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the distillery. This entry-level apprentice position offers recent graduates or those new to the spirits industry an exciting opportunity to learn and grow in a hands-on environment. You will gain invaluable experience in all facets of spirit production, from milling grains to bottling final products, while also earning your NYS certification.

Key Responsibilities:
Assisting with Production Processes:
  • Collaborate with the production team in milling grains, preparing mashes, monitoring fermentation, and participating in distillation and barrel filling.

Maintaining Equipment and Sanitation:
  • Ensure cleanliness in the production area, maintain equipment in good working order, and uphold high standards of sanitation to guarantee product quality and safety.

Quality Control:
  • Assist in monitoring various production processes, taking samples, and conducting basic quality checks to confirm that all spirits meet our high standards.

Inventory Management:
  • Help manage the inventory of raw materials, packaging supplies, and finished products, ensuring accuracy and availability for production needs.

Bottling and Packaging:
  • Support the bottling, labeling, and packaging of spirits, preparing them for distribution to customers and retailers.

Following Safety and Regulatory Guidelines:
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and comply with pertinent regulatory guidelines, including those set forth by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB).

General Support:
  • Provide comprehensive support to the production team, which may include participating in special events, distillery tours, or community outreach initiatives.

Qualifications:
  • Recent college graduate or equivalent experience in a related field (e.g., Food Science, Chemistry, Hospitality).
  • A strong interest in the spirits industry and eagerness to learn.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
